The Irish Manor – In Photos (Part 2)
Words by Dalene Heck / Photography by Pete Heck
Last week we showed you the exterior and grounds of The Manor, but it is now time to take you inside.
And, I must ask you politely to bear with me through the first few ridiculous photos. (Although, I am pretty sure some of you might do the same, if you also found a trunk and closet full of dress-up clothes! And how often does one get to stay in a house that has its own ballroom?)
Regardless, I hope you will forgive us a bit of fun indulgence.
(I’m not sure if Pete has yet).
Enjoy!
Look out! It’s Mr. Green in the Library with the Knife!
Mr. Green in the Lounge with the Candlestick.
Mr. Samurai in the Ballroom with the Sword (?)
Mr. Country Club in the Hall with the Croquet Mallet (?)
Okay, enough with the crazy Clue references!
While a lot of the Manor is in need of refurbishment, there are some details to it that I hope never change. The interior styling for the house was done in the 18th century.
The ballroom is huge, and is now used by the family as a regulation sized badminton court.
One of the many, many bathrooms. A lot of rooms in the house have heavy velvet drapes of different colors, which I love!
The Manor has three floors. This is the end of the hallway on the second.
With dramatic, red-carpeted stairs.
This place is so full of books….I could spend a lifetime here reading.
“A book is a friend that never deceives”
Hysterical! Especially Mr. Country Club! How DO you manage to get Pete to cooperate with these zany antics?
Seriously, I think you two would make a great reality show!
I don’t know how I convince him, really. My good looks and charm? 🙂
Wow. What an awesome house. Is just the two of you staying there? It sounds like a place out of a storybook.
There is another person in a small cottage attached to the manor, but it easily feels like we are alone!
I have been waaaaaaaaaiting for these pics. Oh Lord…..I want to meet a King so I can be a Queen, put on a Ball Gown & live in that manor. For a little while anyway. It does seem like something out of a storybook. And Pete….I think you should consider acting. Loved the clothing attire.
Thanks my Sweets !!!!!
I wish you could come and visit us!! xo
Hahahaha – LOVE the dress up Clue shots. This place looks amazing…I hope they get to renovate it and keep the original details that you love so much. Looks like a place worth preserving.
We had so much fun with you guys in Dublin. Thanks again for coming out and catching up with us. Hope the rest of the time goes slow for you at the manor =)
We had an awesome time with you guys too! Will have to *make* our paths cross again in Europe… 🙂
hahaha! Great stuff guys! I love it! Reminds me of Lara Croft’s place especially when Pete is practicing his Samurai techniques. LOL!
Thanks Jeff! We really just couldn’t resist. Who ever gets a chance to have a photo shoot in an actual ballroom?? Too much fun!
Holy crap!
(Yep–for once that’s all I have to say.)
No, on second thought–it’s not. How on earth did you score such a phenomenal housesit?
Okay, I’m done. (But—Holy Crap!)
Haha! Lucky, I guess! I think it was on housecarers (I don’t even remember which one!)
There’s a BALLROOM?!?
I love (LOVE) those first few photos. Hysterical and clever and gorgeous.
Thanks Christy! Yup, a ballroom, turned sports room! Although I think I still want to have a ball while we’re here. 🙂
haha, enjoyed the first few pictures the most, especially country club man
I actually thought that he looked kinda like a cross between Austin Powers and Harry Potter, but I wasn’t sure if that was just me… 🙂
I’m not sure what to say. What an awesome house! Pete looks progressively more crazy in each photo, which is pretty awesome too! 🙂
We had to do it, right? Dress-up clothes + a mansion….it had to be done. 🙂
It did indeed. It’s all very Colonel Mustard in the conservatory type business… 🙂
Wow, what a “little” gig you have this time, I bet you are enjoying your Irish traveling in time 😉
That we are! Thanks Angela!
Haha… good times! What a lovely manor…
Ohh I love all the books, especially the bookcase! You guys are lucky. Enjoy 🙂
Oh. My. Goodness. It’s like you’ve stepped into one of my dreams! (And I don’t mean that I dream about the characters from Clue). Please keep sharing details from this place – it’s FAB.
This is awesome! Looks like you had a lot of fun with this.
Thanks Stephanie. It was a lot of fun. I wish Dalene would have found an outfit and played along. We’ll keep searching through the house and maybe we’ll find something…
Hahaaa, the Clue shots are wicked! Pete’s a great model and wears that wig very well. They have a tickle trunk?? Could this place be any cooler? I think not. It’s gorgeous. Stay until I can afford to visit?? 😉
Wait, so you guys are living here?!! Wicked!
I’m digging through your site now trying to find it, but what web site do you use connect with house sitting again?
Hey Andrew, yes we certainly lucked out with this one.
Here is a link as to how to get into house-sitting – https://www.hecktictravels.com/housesitting
Like we say to everyone, when you score the sit in Italy, make sure to have a couch ready for us 🙂 Let us know if you have any questions.

I love this post 😀 The dramatic red carpeted stairs are perfect, they’re exactly what you’d expect to see there. And teh old books! That last picture is really great 🙂 It’s so fun that you guys dressed up and did a clue post! haha
Top drawer! Those photos are awesome!!!! You should make your own storybook.
That place looks like a fantastic setting for a novel!
Ooh! I never really thought of that! Now if only my will for writing wasn’t sucked dry by this blog… 🙂
You’re housesitting there? That’s a pretty sweet gig… though I think I’d be a little freaked out staying somewhere so big if I was alone.
I’m totally with you Jasmine – I couldn’t handle this one on my own! It’s also why we chose to stay in the attached cottage rather than the big house, it’s cozier and, well, there’s probably less chance of it being haunted. 🙂
hahaha love the clue photos
this has to be one of the most amazing home stays ever! Who lives in a house like that! A manor! are there a lot of them in the area?
You know what, I’m sure there are more in the area, but they may all be tucked away like this one (you’d never see it from the road)!
Wow! How incredibly amazing! I’d cry if I could housesit a place like that. Imagine how many people have lived there, what their stories are. I’ve always dreamed of living in a manor, wearing a silk robe and drinking out of a champagne flute all day. Maybe one day 😉
Oh my gosh. Those photos made my morning. What a beautiful place! You guys are hilarious and I think… maybe Pete should grow out his hair into a mullet and dye it blonde!
Enough out of you Sam! The last time he hung out with you for any length of time, he grew his molestache… no more influence! 🙂
This is hysterical! I love it. What a cool house too.
